Authentic food. Great, extremely fast service. Friendly staff. My brother and I grew up in a well diversified neighborhood and had many Mexican friends and neighbors. The result? We both LOVE Mexican food, and are terribly picky about what is considered "authentic." Senior Antonios does a great job -- even though they don't have horchata (a rice drink flavored with cinnamon) or true Chihuahua cheese on their entrees (which is usually a big turn-off for me). I'm a fan of the chicken fajitas with corn tortillas (vs. the flour ones that normally accompany the dish), and my fiancee enjoys the beef tacos. We both heart the homemade tortilla chips + salsa that greet you upon arrival. The rice + beans that accompany most entrees are fantastic, and the guacamole is well done and tasty. I think this place is BETTER than El Vaqueros, and every time we visit Sr. Antonios, I say aloud "I'm so glad this place is here!"

Used to be a good restaurant and we loved it, but it has declined in the past few months. The past two times that I had been there, I got terribly nauseated and sick and my hubby got nauseated, too. Service has declined somewhat and they will frequently mess up your order. The only good thing are the chips and salsa but that, too, has declined in taste and quality. I have gotten the tacos in the past and they come to the table soggy & nasty and drenched in some sort of clear liquid (water?) and the rice and the refried beans are constantly cold on the plate. And lately, my hubby has gotten the mixed fajitas (steak, chicken and shrimp) and the meat is practically MIA. Maybe 4 pieces each of the steak, chicken and shrimp. And not much of the fajita veggies, either, on the fajita pan. Save yourself the disappointment and aggravation and don't go there unless that you want to eat subpar Mex food.

Excellent food, nice ambience, relaxing music, attentive and friendly staff, well priced.

Senor Antonio's is a suburban strip mall restaurant serving up what their clientele like. I've been here a few times over the years, and have found the food quality to be consistent and the service very professional. The dishes and sauces are lightly spiced, so it is a place to bring non-adventurous eaters and those with gentle stomachs. The light spice is a plus, however, when it comes to their seafood dishes - my preference when eating here. Their shrimp fajitas are excellent (ask for corn tortillas if you prefer them), as well as their del mar entrees. Not overwhelming with the spice, so the quality of the seafood comes through. All in all, a good experience every time.

Wow. Is this an American version of Mexican food or what? If you like spice. Do NOT go here. So many people like it in the reviews but my husband and I were both disappointed . I got s combo so I could taste a variety. I can say without reservation. I didn't enjoy any of the choices. I love Mexican food. Next time i Will go to Hass or el Vaquero.

We have eaten here 4 or 5 times, and the service and food has been consistently great every time. I highly recommend.

I had this last night for the first time, as takeout. It was average. In fairness, I threw it in my fridge first for a few hours and then heated up in the microwave so I probably didn't get the real experience. My tamale had a crusty little nub on the end that I think I was supposed to eat, but was inedible. The cheese enchilada was good, the beans were good. The rice had peas in it, which I don't like, but otherwise the rice was fine.

Finding good tex-mex in Columbus has undoubtedly been a huge challenge of mine. Columbus has great taquerias.. don't get me wrong, but when it comes to this Americanized version of fare... I just can't seem to find any place to get me giddy and excited aside one hole in the wall place out in B.F.E. (See El Picacho in Mt. Victory) I was still skeptical about Senor Antonios, but my fellow Yelpers helped me throw away any dismal thoughts and give this place a try. Usually when you enter these Tex-Mex joints you're bombarded with signage galore exclaiming "BEST MARGARITAS.." and note that many Yelp reviews will say.. "The Margaritas were wonderful" but not much is said about the food itself. Senor Antonio's is probably one of the few Tex Mex places I would be inclined to eat at around Columbus. They are probably a half a step up from El Vaquero, but all in all.. it's still the same pre-prepped, microwaved to hell... sloppy food you're used to at most Tex Mex restaurants. The only thing redeeming was their chorizo and queso appetizer... so yummy..gooey and extremely unhealthy, but IMO worth the splurge.

Dined here on a busy Friday evening and were seated after a very short wait. Waiter service was attentive and food was OK+ in my opinion...not GREAT but not crappy either. Chips and salsa were excellent! My issue was with the tab and what I discovered a few days later w/ my CC. I paid with a CC and gave the waiter a cash gratuity. 3 days later my CC statement was $10 more...a quick telephone call took the extra $$ off but I am put off by the fact that the restaurant ADDED a tip they thought I had not granted...BAD way to go folks!

We both enjoyed fair portions of pretty good Tex-Mex food. The service was on point as well.

Awesome service! I had the Enchilada del Mar. Wow! Amazing! I have worked as a chef and I was extremely impressed! I tested my boyfriends chicken enchilada, the meat was tender and full of flavor! I loved it! Waiter was attentive! Wish I knew his name, on check it said server 9! Would have been a 10 but bathroom was freezing! Business was extremely clean, waiter held plate properly, fingers off rim of plate! Held glasses correctly. I notice the little things! Will be back!

Always have food to take home and the food is great and is aligned with the price. I love going there

Chicken Nachos were absolutely horrible! The chicken was watery and it soaked the chips within minutes of arriving at table. Service was very poor too! Stopped in around 3:30 PM on a Sunday, there were about 3-4 tables filled. It took us over 20 minutes to order, then food came, waiter never returned to check on us so my sons meal was a waste since we had to leave and didn't have time to replace Chicken Nachos. At checkout, I was asked about the food and stated that it was not very good. Cashier took my credit card and said nothing back. This place is way over priced, poor quality, poor service. Not sure how it got good rating on yelp???

Let me start by saying that I think the food is great. I really enjoy their selection and the food always tastes fresh. The reason for the 3 stars is due to one of the female employees who runs the cash register (I think she's part of the family who owns the establishment). I have honestly never experienced such an unpleasant and down right rude attitude from someone I was giving business to. She gives the impression that she is SO annoyed by your presence-- doesn't say hello, goodbye, or thank you. Like I said, I love the food but honestly her attitude makes me hesitant to go there and often times I don't as a result. Shame-- someone needs to get her some lessons in customer service and overall professionalism.

The food here is so so. Nothing great but not horrible. I've had much better....prefer El Vaquero.

I love me some mexican food. I live just down the road from Senor Antonio's, so it's not a surprise this great joint made me a regular. My wife and I always end up choosing SA because one of us gets hungry for their chips. They're DELICIOUS. We love the salsa too. The food isn't spectacular, it's just good. It's ALWAYS good. That's what makes this place stand out for me. I know that if I go to SA for dinner tonight, the food will be wonderful, and it will come to the table in a crazy fast time. The servers are all fairly reserved and quiet, which suits me just fine, but they're also very attentive. We never feel rushed to leave. I personally love their Chicken Burritos. They come with shredded chicken (always moist and delicious) and covered in a queso sauce that's really good. If you're looking for a cheap, but high quality takeout, my wife and I will call in and order just two Chicken Burritos off the a la carte menu, and they're only $4 each! Sometimes they give us free chips with that, and other times they charge. No clue what the real policy is. I highly recommend the place.

It took me an hour to find Sr. Antonio's, but it was worth it. The service was prompt and pleasant. As has become the standard in "authentic" Mexican restaurants, chips and salsa were brought before I even ordered. The salsa was sweeter than most and not as spicy aa I like. But I found that I kept eating more and more of it. It was really good. Fortunately, my meal came very quickly so I didn't fill up on chips! The gravy on my beef enchilada was excellent! I devoured it. The chicken enchilada was almost as good and covered with the chip salsa. Both were tasty and well presented and accompanied by the traditional beans, rice, lettuce and diced tomatos. I used the tomatos on my hard taco, which was tasty as well. I didn't bother with the beans, but the rice was great when I mixed in the extra beef gravy from the enchilada. I followed the meal with a serving of flan. The flan was creamy and tasted of caramel - as expected - without being overly sweet or jello-like. All said and done, I had a great meal with dessert in less than 40 minutes for less than $17 including my Coke. How can you beat that?

  • Mindy W.

When I worked around the corner, I was a regular here. The Fajita Nachos are very good. Different from what you'd expect from an average "mexican" restaurant, these nachos have personality. They use a creamy white cheese rather than the more popular melted cheddar. Topped with your meat of choice, beans, roasted tomatoes and grilled green peppers, these are good nachos, and more than enough for two to eat as a lunch. Don't forget guacamole!!!

    (4)
  • Angela N.

My fav Mexican in columbus!!! Always good & fresh - as well as they make real drinks not premixed!

    (4)
  • Sam R.

I am a picky margarita drinker (no pre-mixes for me). So, when I say they make a great margarita, I mean it. The food is the usual Mexican restaurant fare. Good flavor and value. But, it's really the margaritas and central location that bring us back year after year.

    (3)
  • Dara P.

When your margarita is awful, that does not bode well for the rest to come. My daughter's taco meat was super wet, made the shells immediately soggy. ..the salsa was bland, the enchiladas were bland... the upside to the pre-made generic food was that it came out quickly, and as I was starving, that and the service are the only things preventing a single star rating.

I haven't been here for a while. I have tried most of the menu and everything has been good.

Good, casual Mexican food; lots of choices on the menu. $6 for a kid's meal seems a bit steep, but the kids enjoy the food, so...

  • Meghan A.

I'll start out by saying this is one of my favorite places for Mexican food. This review is not about the menu or preparation, it's about customer service. I called to see if I could make reservations for 10 people on a Friday night and was told they do not take reservations on weekends. The reason being, according to the manager, was because people do not show up and others are waiting. This makes sense if you are taking about a table for 2 or 4. You would think reasonable accommodations could have been made for a large party, especially for the amount of money we would have spent on food and drinks. They do not even take call aheads. Makes absolutely no sense and not a wise business decision. Perhaps release tables if the party is 5 mins late? Not a huge deal and won't make me stay away forever, but for now I am ticked off and will spend my money elsewhere, as will the other 9 people.

  • Allison G.

My husband & I love this place! We have always been satisfied with our meals. When looking at the prices you immediately think "yikes!" However, the portions are big (come with an appetite) & are worth the money. The only thing I don't like is that they charge over $1 for a small side of sour cream. Other than that, I highly recommend this restaurant.

  • Yellow G.

I met a college friend for dinner here last week and I was so impressed. My basic burrito was good and my pal said her fajitas were just how she likes them. Delicious guacamole, nice decor, pleasant and efficient staff. I will definitely go back when in the neighborhood.

    (4)
  • Sara G.

This place is yummy! It's sort of your "typical" casual Mexican restaurant, but they have more on their menu than most comparable places. Some weekend nights the wait can be pretty long. I definitely recommend the cheese dip and guacamole!

    (5)
  • J Bradford L.

Have to say this place was packed and is a nicely decorated restaurant. The food was nothing special. If you're looking for cheap "Authentic" Mexican food, there are about 20 places I can think of that are as good or better. Popular among the local "Powellites (?)" it seems but I won't go out of my way to get here. Adios, Amigo!

    (2)
  • Mindy C.

DD & I split another fabulous order of fajita nachos.

    (4)
  • Helen G.

The Food here is pretty standard Mexican American fare, heavy, cheesy and not overly spicy. I ordered the seafood enchilada at lunchtime which came with rice and beans. The servings are large, you will have at least two meals in a lunch portion. Although the food lacks the flair to rate 4 or 5 stars, it certainly isn't bad. Compared to all the chain fast food joints around it, it comes out on top.

  • Jeff G.

This place is excellent. I am so obsessed with the Burrito Madre that I can never bring myself to order something else. The chips and salsa are excellent, the service is great and fast, although patience with them helps if you are asking for "no lettuce" or "no cheese" on something because English is, after all, many of the staff members' second language. The staff is never rude though, and once in awhile they might call someone over who speaks better English to help out. I don't see that as a problem though. Reading the other reviews on Yelp, I am just amazed that anyone can think El Vaquero is even close to as good as the food you will get at Senor Antonio's...that is borderline insane in my personal opinion. SA's has the best Mexican Food in Columbus, that said, I don't think anyone is trying to claim it is the best in the world, so calm down California-based Fish Taco lovers...we aren't comparing the two. Some of the other reviews have me thinking I just may have to venture away from my beloved Burrito Madre and try some of these other options. I wasn't even aware of the spicey salsa, I will DEFINITELY be trying that next time. But their salsa is so fresh and tasty (sorry, it isn't bland, it's called being able to make a great tasting salsa without having to throw in a million different things to mask your bad salsa...) that I may just have to order both...can you tell I have difficulty with change?

  • Laura J.

We stopped here on our way to visit family last weekend. I thought that the decor was nice and it was very clean which is a huge bonus, but no way is this place as good as El Vaquero. No stinking way. The salsa was very bland. I ordered a pork burrito with green sauce, I've had a thing for verde sauce lately. It was also pretty bland and I had to open up the burrito and pick through the meat for fat and whatnot. Having said that, my husband enjoyed his food, and it was decent. If we happened to be driving by and were hungry, we might give thme another chance.

    (3)
  • Robb S.

The food was actually pretty good. Service was attentive and our food came out very quickly. Everything was hot and fresh. Well seasoned and good sized portions. I found the food to be better than a couple of other area Americanized Mexican like Blue Agave on Polaris. Despite being decent, we will not be going back. They are very snotty about taking credit cards and prefer cash only. They were very rude when we paid and the girl ringing us up literally threw out Amex card back. Too bad. Ruined an otherwise good meal

  • Jessica T.

Learn Spanish with Jessica! Así-Así: /ah-see-ah-see/ adj., So-so or moderate... this is how I feel about the food at Señor Antonio's. It's pretty much on par with most of the other Mexican places around here. Tequila: /ta-kee-la/ n., A spirit made from the blue agave plant; the alcoholic ingredient in a margarita. Margarita: /mahr-gahr-ee-ta/ n., A cocktail made with tequila and lime juice. Fuerte: /fooer-tay/ adj., Strong. That is how they make their margaritas at Señor Antonio's. Borracha: /bore-ah-cha/ adj., Drunk. That's what Jessica is after only a single one of Señor's margaritas.

It took a while to find a truly great Mexican restaurant in Columbus but I found it in Señor Antonio's! My family and I happened upon it the first time when going shopping in the area. Around lunchtime we were hungry and something smelled oh so good, so we investigated where it was coming from and lo and behold it was Señor Antonio's! And it was love at first sight and bite! I loved how it was decorated to look like a Mexican village. Then I was bummed to find that a lot of other places were trying that, too. But Señor Antonio's is one of a kind. The food, although not unfamiliar on a Mexican restaurant menu, has a unique flavor because they are the recipes of Antonio Moreno's (the owner) grandmother. One of the first dishes that I tried was called the Burrito Acapulco which is filled with seafood. I had never had a burrito like that before and had no idea whether it would be good but it turned out that I really liked it. Another favorite of mine is the Burrito Chile Verde which is filled with shredded pork and in a, go figure, green sauce. For appetizers one of our favorites is the cheese and bean dip: simple, but a combination that I scarf down pretty quickly. The food is always fresh. The chips are fresh out of the oven and toasty warm. The salsa is perfect to my liking - not too mild, not too spicy and with chunks of veggies. For dessert, the flan is oh so creamy! I've also tried one of their frozen margaritas and even that was great.

  • TJ R.

Our favorite Mexican in Columbus and our most frequently visited restaurant, period. The menu includes most of what you'd expect for a Tex/Mex restaurant but also has a few treats if you're looking for something new. The quality/cost ratio is superb. It's great for family or large group dining because everyone will find something. The service is friendly and professional, with a quite stable staff who are always helpful. Our particular recommendations: taco loco salad, chicken hacienda salad, burrito California and enchilada's con mole. One of the best dishes is, happily, also free: the homemade salsa delivered as an appetizer.

mmm mm tasty good. i dunno what kinda crack they have in the burrito antonios but i was hooked. super tasty chips and and fresh salsa. ask for their spicy salsa and mix it up with the mild and it definitely a pleaser! the fajita nachos are huge and pretty tasty as well.

  • Zola B.

I'm not sure what's up with the good reviews, because this place is really gross. I have gotten sick more than once here, and they always put cheese on my beans even though I always say "no cheese or sour cream on anything"! I even try saying that in Spanish sometimes, but I always end up with cheese on my beans and have to send my food back, which I really hate doing. I've been dragged here many times by co-workers, but now I refuse. The food is gross, bland, and their veggie fajitas are slimy. And the salsa is so bland it tastes like unflavored tomato sauce. The best Mexican food in Columbus is Chipotle, sad to say! I would even prefer to go to Taco Bell than Senor Antonio's. Barf! Their service is also bad because they try to rush you out as quickly as possible.

    (1)
  • Cindy M.

I love this place. I think it is better then El Vaquero's. My favorite is the Enchilada's Del Mar. I also love their salsa. It's not too hot, just right.

The best Mexican food in Central Ohio! This place has great service, an unbeatable drink menu, and a wonderful menu!

    (5)
  • Shane L.

I've tried many, including El Vaquero, which is rather overrated btw, but this place is the best--by far. It's a bit of a drive unless you live in Lewis Center/Powell, but it's worth it. Senor Antonio's offers a decent sized dining room (actually rather nice too) with prompt service, excellent food, and great prices. The menu is typical, but it's all done very well (especially tacos), and they have great salsa. If you're in a hurry, its easy to be able to sit down, order, eat, and be done with your check in less than 30 minutes. Not in a hurry, take your time and enjoy the great food.

Great service, great food, fair pricing. A great Mexican place to consistently get a good authentic meal.

    (4)
  • Chris L.

I don't understand the popularity of this place. Maybe I'm ordering the wrong thing but the food has been marginal each time I've eaten there. There is usually a pretty long wait on Thursday-Sunday nights. A lot of people seem to really like the place but I don't see the appeal.

    (2)
  • Joe E.

Been here a few times for lunch with folks from work. That is probably the only thing special about this place for me. It is convenient place to go for lunch with a group of friends. The food is pretty typical Mexican fare. I really cannot get too excited about any of the entree's that I have had. Portion sizes are large and filling. Price is comparable with similar Mexican restuarants (and so is the taste). The service has been efficient and fast, but quite impersonal. Everything feels so rushed (and there were a lot of tables open in the restuarant). I'll likely go here again when my coworkers are looking for a place to go for lunch it is good price and close proximity. The food is not bad, just nothing special to write home about.

  • Diana M.

Excellent chips and salsa, tastes fresh and house made. I had the beef chimichanga, it was flavorful and the portion size was generous. I left full, with leftovers. I also enjoy the decor, it's tasteful and and not the "off-the-wall" bright colors and obnoxious music you typically find. Clean and simple. We'll be back again :)

  • L B.

We are regulars at Senor Antonio's and love this place. I've tried around 10 different things on the menu, and have enjoyed everything. Their service is always excellent - very quick and efficient. Our favorites include their soups, margaritas, pork dishes and enchiladas. If you're around the area, I would highly recommend this place.

  • Ann S.

2.5. The price is good and the choices are plentiful. We both got some enchilada platter with 4 enchiladas on it. (Nothing else. I could've sworn it said it came with rice and beans but I was too full to eat those anyway) The enchiladas were good on their own but the sauce they put on it was AWFUL. I thought it said red sauce and I think it might've been their version of mole which where I come from, this concoction is called beef gravy. Now I have a cold so I can't taste 100% but I asked the hubby if it was just my whacked sense of taste or did it taste like gravy and he said yes. We both agreed that sauce killed it for us. We said we'd likely go back to try something else but it won't be something with sauce and it won't be anytime soon.

This is the best Mexican food in Columbus. And while I do love El Vaqueros there really is no comparison. The Acapulco Burrito is my favorite, filled with crab and shrimp. They also have inexpensive daily specials. Like most mexican restuarants the service is quick but they don't rush you out the door. And if you're margarita isn't strong enough they're happy to fix it for you. They have a back room that would be great for parties. My husband and I were planning to have our rehearsal dinner here until we decided to got to Vegas. If you love Mexican as much as I do, try Senor's! The restaurant is located in the Wal Mart parking lot off 23N so it is easy to miss this gem.

this place has some of the best salsa in columbus. it's kind of american to me rather than full blown mexican, but it's really good at that. for the powell area especially i think it's good. the staff and service is super accomodating and they have a large enough restaurant to seat parties of really any size. their margaritas are huge and very good. their mole is decent and their fajitas very yum. the portions here are huge--expect leftovers or share.

  • Maureen M.

It's OK. Kind of a sterile environment in comparison to many local Mexican establishments. Strip mall Mexican with nice decorating. The food is good but nothing to rave about.

  • Natalie S.

Come to the 'burbs for some fantastic Mexican food. Next to Wal-mart, a dollar store, Sally's Beauty supply, and a state license bureau resides a bangin' joint to more than fulfill all of your margarita and enchilada needs. The service is speedy, efficient, and low-key - they're not trying to force some sort of artificial festive atmosphere on you, but they're happy to keep those margaritas refreshed. The meat and vegetables are good quality and well-prepared. Definitely decorated to theme, but not so much that it's overwhelming. Basically a really chill spot to get some great food and drink and have an uncomplicated dining experience. They have a separate room and a fairly big space in general (though it's nicely sectioned off by walls and booths to feel cozy) - good for larger groups.

I love this place! Everything I have gotten here has been great. Excellent margaritas too! We go here quite a bit even though it is not super convenient for us. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves Mexican food. Everyone I know who has been there loves it.

Hands down the best mexican food in central ohio. Great homemade salsa. Excellent margaritas - especially the Texas style. Fav dishes - fajitas & pollo asado. Enjoy!

This was possibly the worst dining experience I have had. Ever. A friend and I ordered fish tacos. I asked beforehand if they were as good as those served in California... Similarly priced local chains like Rubios, Wahoos, etc. The server laughed and said he didn't know. The fish was supposedly Mahi Mahi. Well, first of all, they weren't California-type tacos because the fish wasn't fried, they were served void of shredded cabbage and there was no crema or incredibly delicious spicy taco sauce so popular out there. Secondly, the fish was essentially a bunch of small pieces of what my friend said looked like Chinese-harvested, Wal-mart sold generic whitefish rather than one big filet of tender, moist fish as I am used to eating in a fish taco. Thirdly, the fish had a very strong and pungent taste. The fish was most definitely old and spoiled. I looked at my friend, who also used to live in California and gave her a facial expression of puking. This was so rancid we asked the server for just a beef taco to replace our fish tacos because of the pungent smell. The beef taco tasted like ass. That was my friend's comment. So we both giggled and smelled the taco meat a few times and confirmed she was right. There was something added to the meat. It was almost creamy in texture. It wasn't seasoning either. More like poo. We smiled when they asked if we wanted anything else. They were very courteous. My pinto beans and rice were okay but my friend got black beans. They were in some runny syrup in a small serving cup. She said they were gross. They looked gross. They credited our bill and we only paid for one meal but people in Columbus need to get out a little bit. This place wouldn't last a week in a strong market. I'm not exaggerating. I am most certain this wasn't just a bad experience but rather representative of the food since the beef taco and beans were also horrible. My God. How does an establishment actually serve gruel like this with a straight face? More importantly, how do people eat it? Maybe most chicken dishes and most beef like fajitas are okay. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The most awful food experience I can remember. Mind you, I have standards. You know, like food I can actually eat without gettng sick. But, 'm not a food snob. While it may only be once a year, I actually eat at Taco Bell and it's edible.

Some of the best chicken enchiladas I've had in years! Really terrific flavor. Chips and salsa were good, but not great. But overall a very nice dinner. I had the a la carte chicken enchiladas, the chips & salsa, and a 22oz beer, and the bill was about $11. Terrific value! (And thanks to Yelp, I came here instead of the horribly-reviewed Chinese buffet a couple doors down.)
